McCain on Women. How does he really feel???

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

So John takes sound bites and puts them into a commercial to imply that Hillary challenges Obama’s abilities to lead. But for Women it is not just about controlling their own bodies and choice. It’s about….

McCain on equal pay: ‘I don’t think you’re doing anything to help the rights of women.

HE THINKS THAT IF YOU SUFFER DISCRIMINATION YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL SO YOU CAN COMPETE.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) skipped the vote on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which would have made it easier for women and other workers to pursue pay discrimination claims. At the time, McCain explained his opposition to the bill by saying that instead of equal pay protection, women simply needed “education and training.“ Asked about his opposition to the bill at a townhall today, McCain told a 14-year old girl that he didn’t think protections for equal pay would do “anything to help the rights of women“:

McCain singled out a 14-year old woman who questioned why he opposes eliminating the statute of limitations on lawsuits over workplace discrimination, arguing it amounted to opposing “equal rights for women.” (Sometimes it take several years before women recognize the pattern of discrimination)

“If you eliminate the statutes of limitations, and you make it unending, you may be violating the rights of the individuals who are being sued, whether they’re a man or a woman,” the senator responded. “I don’t think you’re doing anything to help the rights of women, except maybe help trial lawyers and others in that profession.”

Descimination against women should not have a forgiveness period… Any discrimination is never ok.

Would he support taxpayer funding for contraception in Africa to prevent the spread of AIDS? McCain initially replied that he preferred a program of abstinence education but would provide condoms in places where abstinence "was not being followed," that is, where sex is happening, which is everywhere. That was a stupid answer, which he credited to Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., his ultraright mentor on issues of reproductive rights and health.

A reporter followed up by inquiring whether McCain supports sex education that candidly discusses contraception and preventing the spread of AIDS and other disease, or whether he backs President Bush’s abstinence-only education program. After a long pause, he said, "I think I support the president’s policy." Does he believe that contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV? After another long pause, he replied, "You’ve stumped me."

McCains position… Stick your head in the sand… McCain is not for change.Obama is.

McCain could care less about any America. McCain just wants his name in the history books like Bush did. McCain is just like Bush and that’s why McCain is pushing Bush’s policies. All the failed polices Bush has push.

The bill in Britain about showing politicians expenses?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Do you think it should have been passed?

What pissed me off yesterday is while I was watching the news there was a report on more job loses, and at the bottom where it scrolls, it said that the Bill was rejected for showing politicians expenses to the public.
While Obama had the decency to freeze senior staffs pay.

Gordon Brown, and the British government are bloody wankers.

of course they should be open about where our tax money is going!!! i pay tax because its meant to go towards hospitals and such like….not to refurbish some snotty politicians kitchen…it takes the piss…MP’s and there expenses are not monitored enough….these people who are meant to be working for us are ripping us off…

Pelosi Washes Her Hands of Bush Crimes on The View

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Monday 28 July 2008 – U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appears on “The View.” After the usual mindless banter and Obama adulation, Joy Behar cuts to the chase:

[Fast forward to 5:45]

JOY BEHAR: You’ve ruled against impeaching George Bush and Dick Cheney. And now Kucinich is trying to pass that. Why do you, why do you insist on not impeaching these people so that the world and America can really see the crimes that they’ve committed? [applause]

PELOSI: Well, I think that it – I think it was important – When I became speaker – and by the way, a very important position, president, vice president, speaker of the House – I saw it as my responsibility to try to bring a much divided country together to the extent that we could. I thought that impeachment would be divisive for the country. In terms of what we wanted to set out to do, we wanted to raise the minimum wage, give the biggest increase in veterans benefits to veterans in 77 year history, the veteran – pass research in stem cell – the stem cell research, all of that. This week we’re going to pass equal pay for equal work. It has been a long time in coming [applause], pay equity. We’re going to pass legislation for product safety, for toys that children put in them. There’s an agenda that you have to get done, that you have to try to do it in a bipartisan way. The president has to sign it. IF SOMEBODY HAD A CRIME THAT THE PRESIDENT HAD COMMITTED, THAT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY.

BEHAR: Can they still do it after he is out?

BARBARA WALTERS: When, when we first – when I interviewed you last year, you had just begun, and you were going to clean up the mess, remember?

PELOSI: We did.

WALTERS: You, you look around this country, 75 percent of the country, forget George Bush, thinks that Congress is doing a lousy job.

HASSELBECK: I think it’s 91 percent now.

PELOSI: Well, I don’t disagree with that because largely it’s predicated on ending the war in Iraq. That’s the main question, and we were not successful. In our House of Representatives, I’m very proud of our members because they voted overwhelmingly over and over again to bring the war to an end, to bring the troops home safely and soon, send it to the Senate, and it hits a dead end. But in terms of that particular standard, I would say I disapprove as well. But we do, we passed some of the things I just mentioned, the energy bill. We worked in a bipartisan way, and ovation, agenda, we have to create jobs, expand health care, protect the American people, and educate our children. And you can’t do that if you’re trying to impeach the president at the same time, UNLESS YOU HAVE THE GOODS THAT THIS PRESIDENT COMMITTED THESE CRIMES.

BEHAR: They did it to Clinton.

PELOSI: But they didn’t have the goods and it was wrong, and it was wrong, and it was wrong when they did that. Not that I – I have total disagreement with president on the war, the reason why we went in, which was based on a false premise. But that’s a different story than saying “can we try to get something accomplished for people,” have concerns about the economy and the rest.

THANK YOU JOY BEHAR FOR ASKING THE QUESTION!

I hope that the good people in the San Francisco Bay Area come to their collective senses and vote this traitorous whore out of office. Cindy Sheehan has the courage of her convictions, and she’ll do a much better job of serving you and the rest of the country.

Pfotenhauer on McCain: MSNBC 10/14/08

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Nancy Pfotenhauer and Contessa Brewer on John McCain
“MSNBC Live” 10:35am
Interview

TRANSCRIPTION
CONTESSA BREWER: [McCain's new economic proposal] is a comprehensive list, Nancy. How much does the MCcain campaign expect it to cost and how’s he going to pay for it?

NANCY PFOTENHAUER: Well, I don’t have the official estimate in front of me, but obviously, Contessa it’s going to cost some amount of money over that period of time but this is a time of crisis and it’s important that we reduce the burdens on American families and you’ll note that Senator McCain’s approach is designed to reduce the burdens on American families, not confiscate money and then kind of put it through the Washington, DC government spin cycle and then redistribute it back out, which is, among other things, the least efficient way I can imagine to try to prepare or provide some relief.

He’s going to reduce tax rates. He’s going to allow Americans who realized losses because of this financial downturn to write off more of them and he’s going to allow Americans to keep more of the money that they earned.

BREWER: John McCain always preaches fiscal responsibility, that he believes, if you’re gonna cut taxes, you also have to cut spending and he thinks he can do it. Where? What kind of programs is he going to cut, Nancy, in order to pay for all these tax write-offs?

PFOTENHAUER: Well, I would also note that Senator McCain’s plan is on-balance, much more fiscally restrained than Senator Obama’s.

[cross-talk]

PFOTENHAUER: He is saying he wants to do an across-the-board freeze, exempting specific programs that are necessary like defense, veteran’s affairs and social security and health care. So those are going to be protected, but he wants an across-the-board spending freeze and a top-to-bottom review of the federal government so that some of these programs that are duplicative or frankly not working can be consolidated or eliminated. [...]

BREWER: Yesterday when we talked I had asked you about new proposals for tax cuts and you told me that the team was appraising the situation, so apparently the appraisal’s been done and you decided to come forward with some new proposals. What changed? What did you look at, in the economy, that made [...] John McCain decide that it was time to propose some new tax cuts?

PFOTENHAUER: [McCain] has been rolling out solutions to that all along. Remember he came out with a solution for the financial sector ahead of President Bush, ahead of congress and certainly ahead of Barack Obama.
