Why shouldn’t the HMO be allowed to capitalize on peoples health issues. How dare he say that those born with preexisting condition need to be cover too. How dare he infringe on the profits of big business. Who’s research is mostly founded by tax payer dollars. How dare Obama claim that everyone has the right to prolong their life.
Does he not realize that this is capitalist country. And therefore our primary focus and concern is the well being of capital gains for corporations. Not the concern for a better society or quality of life for its citizens. This isn’t a socialist country. If you get sick and you can’t pay, then die. We got money to worry about.
He should be ashamed of him self. Pushing health care, stem cell research and the like to save human life. What kind of man pushes a bill to ensure women get equal pay to their male counter part. What is the world coming to.

If everyone has the right to prolong their life at the expense of doctors, researchers, and insurance companies, then you’re forcing those people to perform services without compensating them. You’re forcing them to be slaves. Who are you to tell people they must do work even if they don’t get paid for it? Would you go to work every day if your boss wasn’t going to pay you?
You need to really think about what his plan will do. It will bankrupt us and result in lower quality care for everyone.
Add: and it’s not being "humanitarian" when you’re using tax money to fund it. If he was paying for this out of his own pocket, that would be humanitarian, but he’s using other people’s money. And as for being "Christian" – Christ never once advocated the govt forcibly taking money from people and giving it to people who didn’t earn it. Christ wanted people to help the less fortunate out of their own free will. That’s not what Obama’s doing at all.

No, if you get sick and cant pay, you go on Medicaid. That’s what it’s for. It pays for everything. It’s been around for a very long time – I myself was on it for ten years when my kids were young and I was a single parent.
Medicaid took care of EVERYTHING from prenatal visits to surgeries, to dental, vision, everything, throughout my children’s entire childhood and for me too. And NO charge to me whatsoever.
Every single working person in the USA is taxed to pay for Medicaid. I was taxed as well, before I went on it, I paid into the system, and now for the past 12 years since my kids are grown and I am able to go back to work, I am once again paying taxes for those on Medicaid.
Dont confuse it with MediCARE, this is for the elderly. MediCAID is for the poor who cannot afford health insurance.
In other words, WE ALREADY HAVE HEALTHCARE for the poor!
Futhermore, I happen to like the health insurance I have now through my job very much. I pay for family coverage every single paycheck, which comes out to more than $3000.00 a year for me, plus deductables, plus the 10% left over on bills that insurance doesnt pay –
and Obama wants to TAX my healthcare benefits on top of that.
I have had three surgeries in the past 3 years. Together they totalled about $75,000.00. MY cost after insurance paid? Approximately $3000.00, which I paid off over time.
My insurance is the best there is in the country for those who pay for their insurance. It doesn’t get any better than what I have, for those who pay for their insurance. I’m VERY happy with it and I DONT want Obama telling me that I have to take HIS plan instead! And that IS what he is saying now, totally flipflopped on the issue from before when he was saying that we would still be able to keep what we had.
There is ONE insurance in the country that is better than what I have. Guess what it is. It’s the ONLY insurance that pays 100% of everything. It’s…. MEDICAID! Yup, Medicaid for the poor who cannot afford to buy health insurance. Medicaid that *I* as a taxpayer, pay for on top of paying for my own private insurance!
As for socialist medicine – yeah let’s go there. My dad is a Canadian. We have more MRI machines in my town in the USA (around a million people) than the entire COUNTRY of Canada has. People have to travel hundreds of miles and get on waiting lists to even be ABLE to get an MRI test in Canada. The Socialist health care system in Canada is BROKEN and it has been for years.
In fact, a few years back Canada was even contemplating adopting the USA’s method of healthcare!
My dad also hairline fractured his hip a few years back. Guess how long he had to wait to get surgery. A day? No. Two days? No. Try FOUR MONTHS. FOUR MONTHS to be able to get in to get the pins in his hip he needed, and he was in pain every single day during that wait!
And then there’s my friend Beynish. He lives in Queen’s Quay in Toronto. THE most exclusive, wealthy address in Toronto. You know what happened to him? He had a mild heart attack. So of course he went to the hospital. Any guess on what happened to him?? He was put OUT IN THE HALLWAY FOR SIXTEEN HOURS before being able to be treated.
And then lets hop over the pond to Britain, shall we? I’ve got a friend over there who is sick. Very sick, and she has been for going on six years now. She has all the signs of Multiple Sclerosis, and it’s advancing. Can she see a doctor? No. Why? Because access to doctors is through a GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL watchdog officer, and each town in britain is divided up into sections assigned to one of these government financial officers. They are NOT doctors. Yet they have the ONLY say on who sees a doctor and who doesnt. My friend is now in a wheelchair she borrowed from a friend, and can no longer walk. And she still cannot access a doctor.
Yep, socialized medicine is far out, isnt it?
