Obama Says Gov't Will Pay For War Vets College Tuition

Monday, February 15th, 2010

THE PRESIDENT: Hello. Thank you. Please, have a seat. Good morning, everybody.

AUDIENCE: Good morning.

THE PRESIDENT: It is wonderful to see all of you and wonderful to have one of the best partners that anybody could have in elected office, our Vice President, Joe Biden — thrilled to have him here. (Applause.)

I want to thank Staff Sergeant Miller for the gracious introduction. I want to thank President Merten for his hospitality. There are a couple of people here who deserve all the credit, because they got a very tough bill done — and part of the reason they were able to get it done was just because of their extraordinary personal credibility. These are — one is new to the Senate and one had been there a while, and yet together they formed an incredibly formidable team. They're both class acts. Please give a big round of applause to Virginia's own, John Warner and Jim Webb. (Applause.)

I know that we've got a number of member[s] of Congress who are here and I want to thank them all …

Obama to speak to gay audience

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

President Barack Obama plans to address the nation’s largest gay rights group this weekend in an effort to mollify an uneasy Democratic constituency frustrated with the White House’s slow pace.
Obama plans to address Saturday’s Human Rights Campaign fundraising dinner gala, the organization and the White House announced Monday afternoon.
“It is fitting that (Obama) will speak to our community on the night that we pay tribute to his friend and mentor Sen. Edward Kennedy, who knew that as president, Barack Obama would take on the unfinished business of this nation — equal rights” for the gay community and for “every person who believes in liberty and justice for all,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese.
The dinner falls on the eve of the National Equality March, expected to draw thousands of gay and lesbian activists to the National Mall. Many have been critical of Obama’s slow pace on redeeming campaign promises to end a ban on gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military and pushing tough nondiscrimination policies.
“Eleven months after his election, he has failed to deliver on any of his commitments to gay Americans, but even worse has been his refusal to engage around these issues,” said Richard Socarides, who advised President Bill Clinton’s administration on gay and lesbian policy.
“What he needs to do now is engage and deliver,” said Socarides. “Spend some of his political capital on ending the gay military ban, a hugely symbolic issue. And with no intellectually sound arguments left against it, come out squarely for gay marriage equality.”
Obama wasn’t likely to go that far, though, despite a rocky relationship with gay grass roots activists. He has taken a slow and incremental approach to the politically charged issues. He has expanded some federal benefits to same-sex partners, but not health benefits or pension guarantees. He has allowed State Department employees to include their same-sex partners in certain embassy programs already available to opposite-sex spouses.
But that remains far short of his campaign rhetoric.
“At its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans,” Obama said a 2007 statement on gay issues. “It’s about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect.”
Since then, he publicly has committed himself to repealing the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that allows gays and lesbians to serve in the military as long as they don’t disclose their sexual orientation or act on it. On Jan. 9, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs answered “yes” when asked whether the administration would end a policy that has seen the dismissal of more than 12,000 troops after their sexual orientation was revealed.
But as president, Obama hasn’t taken any concrete steps urging Congress to rescind the Clinton-era policy that some former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have acknowledged is flawed.
Yet the office of the current chairman, Adm. Mike Mullen, signed off on a journal article that called for lifting the ban, arguing that the military is forcing thousands of military members to live dishonest lives.
Obama also pledged during the campaign to work for repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which limits how state, local and federal bodies can recognize partnerships and determine benefits. But lawyers in his administration defended the law in a court brief. White House aides said they were only doing their jobs to back a law that was already on the books.
Even before Obama took office, he disappointed gay and lesbian activists who objected to the invitation to evangelist Rev. Rick Warren’s participation in the inauguration despite Warren’s support for repealing gay marriage in California.

Love Hillary, Vote Obama

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I was once an avid Hillary Clinton supporter and voted for her in the primaries. Today, I realize that John McCain is the worst choice I could make, especially as a woman. Hillary supporters – don’t vote McCain!

WAM – Women Against McCain

Despite his attempt to try to win over the women vote, we cannot forget that McCain
•wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade
•does not support equal pay
•does not believe insurance companies should provide coverage for birth control (but yet it’s alright to provide Viagra)
•can’t even DEFEND or REMEMBER his reasons for voting against insurance covering birth control

Obama-Pelosi Health Care Reform Scam

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Welcome America & The World – I am Obama-Stein! I am registered as an Independent. Don’t blame people like me for mess and screw ups of this gov. and Pres.!

I see after returning from my Christmas deer hunting trip that the senate pushed thru the Obama-Pelosi Health Care Reform Scam. President Obama once bragged on how cost effective the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic were. This past week the Mayo Clinic in Arizona dropped the federal run failure of Medicare. Mayo Clinic sited that Medicare did not pay enough to cover the medical expenses that they provided.

Some of the problems with large scale federal programs is fraud and waste. In Miami Florida alone there are 10 people charged with (100 Million Dollars) in Medicaid and Medicare fraud. That was one small group of people in the Miami area. These 10 people were not even associated with each other. They all just came up with a way to scam the system last year for a nice $100 million in your taxes!

It will be no different in the Obama-Pelosi Health Care Reform Scam program when it is made into law. It will be filled with fraud. Medical cost will go up and medical care will drop! The penalty clause will be a major problem for many Americans as well. I learned from my brother-in-law while on our trip this will cost him $5,000.00 per year. He is self employed and self insures his family. He pays for his families medical expenses as they need care from a fund that he puts money into from his business. This has worked for him and his family better than buying insurance. Now if he does this he will be fined by the federal gov. $5,000. a year. Basically paying for some deadbeat to have free insurance!

Obama becoming new Jimmy Carter – Newt Gingrich on Stimulus

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

No taxes for 6 months would equal $ amount in the Stimulus Package. What could be better? In tough times, you and I do not spend more money, we stop and save. The idea of no taxes for 6 months would stop income to the government BUT it prevents our taxes being used to pay for the pork filled package as it stands today. Instead of the government spending money it does NOT have (it’s our future taxes) – if there was no tax for six months the American people WOULD spend money that they now DO have……. now that would be stimulus.

Stand up for a better government – visit our homepage and contact us today. One by one we can change the future……..

GOP Women – McCain Campaign Treating Palin Like A Secretary

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

In my estimation, she is being used unfairly as a tool by a team who, by the way, do not even support, nor does their candidate, equal pay for women for equal work. So if she is going to be the traditional vice presidential attack dog — which I concur with Bay, that’s very much a traditional role — why didn’t her male running mate, i.e. the candidate himself, man up and speak to those issues, calling his opponent essentially unpatriotic, calling him a terrorist?

I’m sorry. This is not the Republican Party that Bill Buckley, that Paul Laxalt, that Ronald Reagan raised me on. And I don’t believe the American people like this kind of dirty politics. If they can’t win fair and square, they shouldn’t trash the other guy.
